Jason O’Flaherty Photography
Welcome! I'm Jason O'Flaherty, an explorer with a camera, based in Lincoln, Nebraska.
My work isn’t built on a single theme. It’s a collection of moments shaped by curiosity, a love of adventure, and trying something new.
From wildlife and night skies to travel and experimental techniques, I photograph what catches my interest and share what I learn along the way.
Here you’ll find a selection of my favorite images, along with photography tutorials on my YouTube Channel and info about upcoming events and workshops I’m involved in.
Whether you’re here to learn, get inspired, or just look around, I’m glad you stopped by.

My Current Favorite Photo
This has become one of my favorite shots, though I almost overlooked it. I’ve loved ancient Rome since childhood, and photographing the Coliseum was a longtime goal. On my first trip, none of my photos turned out the way I hoped. This was from my second visit.
At first, I didn’t think much of it. But while choosing prints for my office wall, I gave it another look. Cropping it from a 2:3 aspect ratio (see below) to the 4:3 frame shifted the balance, giving more weight to the arches and less to the sky. Suddenly, it worked, and now it’s a piece that keeps drawing my eye when I look at my wall.

After a stretch of behind-the-scenes work, I’m back with updates. My home server bit the dust, leading to a rebuild with an M4 Mac Mini. I’ve been diving into self-hosted tools like PeerTube and private AI models, started a new role as Director of Development, adopted a camera-loving cat, and finally gave my website a much-needed refresh.
